well it depends whether you are taking the boat or plane.
Generaly the train system in what is kown as "Briatin".
e.g. It took me 8hours to get fromHollyhead to London once by train. but the plane to Heathrow or Gatwick is usually reliable. But be prepared.

> To travel by car between London and Dublin can take most of a day. The trip from London to Holyhead in Wales can take between 6 and 8 hours, depending on the traffic. It is then a two-hour ferry crossing from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire. You must be at the ferry terminal in Holyhead with plenty of time to spare. I would recommend that you travel north in the UK to Chester or a similar town, spend the night there, and then make the rest of the journey to Holyhead, as it minimises the chance of you waiting a long time or missing your boat in Holyhead. Chester is a beautiful old-fashioned town in the north of England.

> Basically, leave at least a full day to travel between the two cities, and possibly break it up into two half-days.

You can't drive from either city to the other because they're on two islands seperated by water. Check out a map.

You could take a ferry from Dublin to England or Wales, though.

The distance between the cities I believe is about 290 miles.

Hi,
There is only one route out of Holyhead, pretty good road these days, links direct to motor ways for several parts of England.

Just follow motorway signs, London is listed.
Takes between 5-7 hours drive, plenty of Motorway services to stop for coffee etc.
Do not recommend A roads, much too long a drive.

Its about 280-290 miles from London to Holyhead. Takes about 5 hours, I've done it in 4. Boat from Holyhead to Dublin - Irish Ferries or Stena Line.

Best route is M1, M6, M56, A55.

while living in Dublin as a student, how quick, and economical is it to travel on weekends and see other parts of Europe?

Hi Michelle,
look for cheap flights on ryan air, they fly all over europe from dublin, prices always vary, the ones with no taxes are best, usually get a flight anywhere for 10.00 euro if taxes free

We will be driving from Dublin, Ireland to Cambridge, U.K. on October 6 or October 7, 2009. We would like to leave in the morning.
(1)What is the quickest way to do that, and how long does it take?
(2) How far is the ferry terminal from Dublin City center?
(3) Is there a bus or train from Dublin to Ferry terminal?
Thanks for your answer!

We are travelling from Dublin to London on WEdnesday, 4th November. Would like to know the best way to go, eg which is the best road to take. WE ultimately want to end up in Putney on the A3? We have limited time need to be in London on the 5th November. Where would be a good place to stay on the way, bearing in mind we get to Holyhead at 3.30 pm on the 4th. Would appreciate help
