We are coming to Dublin for 3 days end of August to try and trace family records. Where would be the best office to visit : National Archives in Bishop St. or Register office in Abbey St.Cannot find out.

Hopefully you already have names and locations of your ancestors.

To work back through birth, marriage and death records, you will go to the GRO Research Room, Irish Life Mall, Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1.

Census records for 1911 are already going online. Check these out at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie

Census records for 1901 and 1911 are also on microfilm at the. These can be seen at the National Archives offices.

If you are unsure of the location or the spelling of any place or town, check out the Irish Placename database at http://www.IrishAncestries.com

Steven
