Searching for records of the Old IRA

Pat at 14:48:15 on 30 Jul 2004

Would like to know if there are any records (for public viewing)re the Old IRA. Want to see if I can find the name of an ancestor who was a member in his youth. This would be between 70-80 years ago. Where do I start to look for this information? Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you

The National Archives would be the place to start.

Hi. For those searching for information on your peoples involvement in old Ira i will first say that each case is different. As a previous contributor said, try national archives dublin. certinly try thr bureo of military history and get in touch with renmore military barracks Galway as they hold all the old pension records. Local museums too depending on where your people came from. best of luck. Kevin.

Can anyone help with some information on John Hayden, murdered by the Black and Tans in Ballymurphy Co.Carlow. I am led to believe he was an ancestor of mine.
