Yes Joan you certainly do..any travel outside the U.S requires you to have a passport.. u can apply most likely thru your local library in many instances and it can take from 6 to 12 weeks so apply early as possible.. GO TO IRELAND..ITS A TRUELY BEAUTIFUL PLACE. IM GOING THERE IN MARCH ;06 FOR MY honeymoon...

If travelling from the UK, you will require only photo ID (though a passport is the preferred form of ID) Check with your airline/ferry operator for any specific requirements which they may have. 
EU/Swiss citizens must bring either their passport or national identity card. 
Citizens of all other countries must bring their passports. Citizens of certain countries may require a visa.
