Hi Sinead, There is a lot to see and do in and around dublin, there are a few options for you. To see and learn a bit of the history of the city itself you could do one of the bus tours, which cover christ church, dublin castle trinity college etc..
The other option is to take a tour from dublin out around the outskirts to see beautifull scenary and also some lovely buildings, there is so much to see ,if you had a rough idea of things I could tell you the best way to go. Another option is to hire a personnal chauffeur for the day and they could cover a lot more ground and sights, we do private tours and customise them to whatever you want to
You could also hire a car and just drive to the different locations yourself, bear in mind you can only fit so much into a day and if you try and fill it to much you wont remember half the things and will be looking at the time all day.
Enjoy your visit, if you need any further info sont hesitate to contact us/email us
