I am due to visit Dublin with my wife early June and was wondering approximately how much a taxi would cost to transfer from the airport to Ballsbridge?

Simon,
A taxi to Ballsbridge should cost in the region of €30-35 or so.
The Aircoach bus service (
www.aircoach.ie) provides a comfortable journey to Ballsbridge and is considerably cheaper at €7 per person (one-way) or € 12 return. It stops at most of the hotels in Ballsbridge, and runs 24 hours.

I think you can pay less of 30 euros.I paid that amount to go from Dublin's Airport to Dun Laoghaire which is farther..

Hi Carolyn,
Cheapest Shannon Airport to Tipp is probably by bus. You may need to change in Limerick. If you're interested in private transport, I can do this for 129 Euro for 5 people.

Probably about 30 euro. Aircoach is 7 euro per person so if there are a few of you it makes better sense to get taxi to the door of hotel

please note all legal taxis have a meter that says how much a fare will is.
All fares can be up or down a little depending on road / traffic conditions. nobody will know the fare for sure until they get you where you want to go.
You have nothing to fear 99.9% of taxi drivers are honest...
All irish taxis have a fare card on the dash with current fares. relax enjoy your trip you are in safe hands.
Irish taxi drivers are some of the most honest in the world so dont forget to tip them well.

Folks you can get quite accurate estimates yourselves at the following website. Enter the details from/to and the time of day (this matters because after 8pm taxi rate is higher - same goes for all day Sundays, Bank Hols etc). Note however that from 1st November 2008 there is a c.8% fare increase.

Lastly the cab can charge €2 extra if you pre-book or ring for a cab. Also after the first pasenger (the hirer) there is €1 per head for each extra passenger.

I advice all people staying in Dublin to use either the hotel shuttles or to use public transport. The taxis are ridiculously overpriced. It costed us 40 Euro to go from the airport to the city center (Gaiety Theater), and it was a 20 minute trip. The bus took half an hour but it was 4,40 for two people!
