Welcome to Abbeyglen Castle
Located on the aptly named Skye Road, overlooking Clifden. Abbeyglen dates from 1824 and is close to the ever popular village of Clifden. The Abbeyglen Castle combines the splendour of castle living with an intimate relaxed setting. The Hughes brothers, Paul and Brian, work hard at creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

This small but impressive castle has some wonderful rooms complete with 4-poster beds, fireplaces and Jacuzzis. Tastefully decorated bedrooms are complimented by nine luxury suites. The award winning dining room 'Table for Two' is well rated by guests and has won praise from Egon Ronay. Locally caught salmon and fresh shellfish are a restaurant speciality.
Facilities at the Castle and nearby
Tennis, pitch and putt, snooker, table tennis are all available on site and there is a also a garden swimming pool. Fishing complete with packed lunch can be organised. There are some good walks or perhaps you can just amble up to nearby Clifden for some shopping. If you are in the area some island hopping to nearby Aran Islands is well worth a day visit.
Location
The hotel is an ideal base from which to explore the Connemara area and is only a short drive from Galway City. Connemara is one of the last Gaelic speaking areas in Ireland and is a place of rugged beauty.
