About Battle of Aughrim Visitor Centre

Discover how three rival European Kings - William of Orange, James II, and Louis III took hold of Ireland in their struggle for power with over 45,000 soldiers gathering Aughrim in 1691, in what proved to be the defining battle of the Willliamite War in Ireland. Learn about the Battle of Aughrim in relation to other major events of the Williamite War such as the Battle of the Boyne, the sieges of Athlone and Limerick, and the Flight of the Wild Geese.

Located in the heart of Aughrim Village between Ballinasloe and Loughrea (The N6 & Exit 15 on the M6), the Battle of Aughrim Visitor Centre provides:
