Your knowledgeable local guide will help you explore the wonderful and unique landscape of the Burren. You will get to understand the geology of the limestone karst and how man and farming, as well as nature, have shaped it. You will get to interpret the landscape and see some of the archaeology of over 5,000 years of human habitation. The Burren is famous for its wild flowers. Arctic, alpine and sub-tropical plants grow side by side! Your guide will identify the special flowers of the Burren, according to what is in season. The walk will be at a relaxed pace and will be 5.5 km (3 miles) long and is suitable for persons with a reasonable level of fitness.
The Meeting Point for each guided walk is in the centre of Kinvara Village, outside the Londis Supermarket at 10.00 am. From there you will travel by car to the Start Point of the walk in the Burren. This is a distance of approximately 8 km.
You must provide your own transport from the Meeting Point to the Start Point of the walk (e.g. your hired car, etc.). You will be walking on rough terrain so please make sure that you have good walking shoes/boots. The weather in Ireland is very changeable, so bring warms clothes and a rain jacket. The guide will provide commentary for the 3 hour duration of the walk.
Kinvara is very accessible from Galway City. Allow approximately 40 minutes for the drive to Kinvara.
