Hidden Heartlands Private Guided Tour Itinerary

After collecting you from your boat or accommodation, I’ll chauffeur you through the mid-Shannon region in a 6-passenger Mercedes-Benz limousine.

We will visit Clonmacnoise on the River Shannon, one of Ireland’s most iconic Early Christian sites and a burial place of Ireland’s kings.

We then pass through the quiet village of Shannonbridge, where you can see the largest and best-preserved Napoleonic fortifications in Ireland and Britain.

From there we make our way to Birr Castle, the home to the world’s largest Victorian telescope. It also contains an excellent science museum and botanic gardens.

We'll enjoy a break for lunch at Tullamore DEW Visitor Centre, home of the famous Irish whiskey. A tour of the distillery is available as an extra feature, time permitting.

At the end of a packed day of exploring, we’ll return you to your accommodation or boat, in time for you to enjoy the rest of your evening.
