The town of Kells (Ceanannas) is situated 60km north west (N3) of Dublin in the historic Boyne Valley. The circular monastic enclosure protected Saint Columba's Church, the Round Tower and four of the town's five crosses. Nearby, Saint Colmcille's House i s strategically positioned at one of the highest points in the town. This ancient monastic town is in a wooded part of the River Blackwater valley. There are two golf courses ( 18 & 36 holes, several equestrian centres, & swimming pool. The Kells Heritag e Festival is a weeklong festival taking place during the 1st week in July.
