Home to the Brabazon Family (the Earls of Meath) since 1618, Killruddery House is the most successful Elizabethan-Revival mansion in Ireland and also one of the earliest. Killruddery is unique in having the most extensive early formal gardens, still in their original style, surviving in Ireland, largely laid out in the 17th century and added to in the 19th century. The gardens at Killruddery are the oldest in Ireland and are amongst the most important of their type in Ireland.
