Go Back
The 18' high sculpture unifies the Sperrins most popular art forms (music and dance) in this vision of reconciliation and community regeneration. "Two dancers stand still, poised and ready to begin. At the Lifford side stands a musician holding a fiddle a nd at the Strabane side a musician with a fife. A drummer stands proudly between them linking the musical ensemble." On the site of the old border checkpoint the statue represents a confluence of minds and ideas, where the richness of two traditions merge in harmony and strength. This project has been initiated by Strabane District Council in conjunction with the Strabane Lifford Development Commission, The Arts Council Of Northern Ireland, Sustrans and The Ulster Wildlife Trust.
