Duration: 90 minutes

On your visit to Ireland make sure to visit its best kept secret, Loughcrew's Ancient Passage Tombs, on this small-group walking tour. These passage tombs are over 5,000 years old, predate Newgrange and located just one hour from Dublin. Your 1.5-hour tour will begin at Loughcrew Megalithic Centre in Oldcastle, where you will visit the traditional Irish home of Maggie Heaney. Next you will walk to the highest point in the Boyne Valley giving you spectacular views over Ireland's Ancient East. Learn why our stone age ancestors built these extraordinary structures, hear the legend of the Cailleach (Witch), sit on her throne and enter the chamber of passage tomb ''Cairn T''. See the path the rising sun takes on the mornings of the Equinox. To finish you will make your journey back to Loughcrew Megalithic Centre for a well-deserved coffee and a scone.

Take a walking tour of the Ancient Loughcrew  Passage Tombs and Maggie Heaney's Heritage cottage with a local informative guide.

You will start your tour at Loughcrew Megalithic Centre where you will visit Maggie Heaney's Cottage. Step back in time as you take in the traditionally styled courtyard and Maggie Heaney's thatched cottage. The heritage museum dates back to the 1700's and your local guide will talk you through the authentic artefacts and local stories linked to life in the traditional Irish home. Includes an audio visual presentation from a past inhabitant.

A short hill walk will take you to the highest point in the Boyne Valley. Here you will have 360 degree panoramic views of the Royal County's lush green landscape. Hear the legend of the powerful witch. Loughcrew's tombs are over 5,000 yrs old predating Newgrange. Your guide will show you the inside of Cairn T where you will see the corbel rough, ancient art and the path of the rising sun takes on the equinox mornings.

Next you will make your way back down to Nellies Kitchen at Loughcrew Megalithic Centre where you will enjoy a well earned cup of tea or coffee and a scone.
