Shannonside House is located in the heart of Tarmonbarry, County Longford. This luxurious guesthouse is just a stone's throw from the River Shannon, which is the largest river in Ireland. The village of Tarmonbarry is located in the middle of the country about half way between Dublin and Ballina in County Mayo, so is a great pit-stop location on your trip to the West.

The rooms in the Shannonside House are individually designed to ensure maximum comfort. All are ensuite and come with such amenities as a TV, telephone and a tea/coffee tray. The breakfast kitchen is run by Annette, who prides herself in the fact that no guest leaves hungry. The house has its own car park and there are ground floor rooms if required.

Located adjacent to the accommodation is Keenan's Bar and Restaurant. You can always be sure of a fine pint in the bar and you might even meet one of the regulars such as Ronnie Drew or Jack Charlton. The restaurant offers a fine atmosphere, perfect for a family dinner or a romantic evening for two. The cuisine is always excellent and only uses the finest in fresh ingredients.

Shannonside House is located just 50 metres from the River Shannon which has some fine angling opportunities along its banks. Why not ask the proprietors where the best and most secret places are. In fact the current record sized Rudd was caught by Steve Wilks who was staying at the Shannonside House, so maybe you can be just as lucky!

If fishing isn't your thing, then there is much else to do including heading out to Lough Rynn House and Gardens which is located just over the border in County Leitrim. Strokestown Park House in Roscommon is an 18th Century manor that still has its original furnishing and is well worth a visit while Carrigglas Manor is an excellent example of 19th century, Tudor Revival style castellated architecture.

Lough Key Forest Park is located near Boyle, County Roscommon and is an excellent area of preserved landscape worth visiting. Strokestown has a 9-hole course, but if that isn't enough for you there are at least four other courses within a 40km radius.
