âA Light in the Darknessâ Tu In keeping with annual tradition, the Vaughan bequest of watercolours by Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851) will go on display in the National Gallery of Ireland from 1-31 January 2009. The 31 watercolours of the Vaughan Bequest on show span the artistâs career and include a number of examples from his Continental tours, which depict stunning locations like The Dogeâs Palace in Venice, Lake Lucerne, and the fortresses at Bellinzona in Switzerland. This year the Turner exhibition will be shown alongside a display of 17th 18th and 19th century silhouettes and miniatures, including exquisite portraits by Richard Cross, Henry Bone, and Augustin Ãdouart. A brochure written by Niamh MacNally, Exhibition Curator, will be available from the Gallery Shop. A series of free public talks will take place during January, on Tuesdays at 10.30am and Sundays at 3.00pm.
