Enescu - Brahms: European Encounters

Azoitei and Stan’s internationally acclaimed recordings of George Enescu’s complete works for violin and piano (2007, 2008) have inspired this international tour of cultural capitals, bringing the work of this brilliant Romanian composer and musician, who was also teacher to Yehudi Menuhin, to a live, world-wide audience.
In this programme, Enescu’s music is beautifully complemented by two sonatas by Johannes Brahms: these two titans of chamber music met in late 19th Century Vienna and Brahms became, in his final years, one of the young Enescu’s greatest influences.
