‘Adolf Mahr, Dublin Nazi No.1’ - Gerry Mullins Minerva Suite, RDS

Dr. Adolf Mahr was Director of the National Museum of Ireland during the 1930s, but he was also Head of the Nazi Party in Ireland at the same time.

In this intriguing talk based on his best selling book, Gerry Mullins presents an insight into the Mahr family through photographs; including images from their holidays in Skerries, Hitler Youth camps in Balbriggan, the arrival of a German battleship to Dun Laoghaire and its crew’s visits to Monasterboice and Kilmacurragh.

The presentation also features correspondence between Mahr and the Irish Jewish philanthropist Albert Bender from their joint effort to open an Asian art collection at the Museum. The exhibition was recently reopened at Collins Barracks.
