Expect electricity, lyrical music and infectious high spirits in equal measure in one of the highlights of the musical year. A programme of lively and at times nostalgic music from the great repertoire of the Johann Strauss family and contemporaries.
Revel in the Pizzicato Polka, the Tritsch-Tratsch Polka, The Emperor Waltz, The Blue Danube, arias from Die Fledermaus and more.
Conductor Christopher Warren-Green – famous for his Strauss interpretations – and exciting young Swedish soprano Klara Ek (‘fearless and brilliant’ – Opera) join the RTÉ NSO for an effervescent start to 2009. This year, for the first time, choose from a matinee and repeat evening performance.
Broadcast live on RTÉ lyric fm- RTÉ lyric fm’s Classic Drive with Niall Carroll will broadcast live from the foyer of the National Concert Hall from 4.30pm.
