Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta 2009 is Ireland's biggest regatta and every two years attracts over 500 boats to the capital's waters.
Although it is one of Ireland's largest participant sporting events, with 3500 sailors involved, it continues to attract large numbers of sailors from abroad because of its friendly welcome from all four of Dun Laoghaire's yacht clubs and local towns people.
The proximity of a four star hotel and an 800 berth marina on site have quickly established the venue as a popular choice for visiting yachts, the UK especially.
Racing is arranged for 25 classes on nine courses and the fleet is expected to reach over 500 boats for July 2009.
