Valentia Island, Co. Kerry

Valentia Island, linked to the mainland by a bridge, has Europe’s most westerly harbour. Valentia’s has much historical importance as the first transatlantic telegraph cable ashore here linking Europe with the North America came ashore in 1857. 11 kilometres long, Valentia Island is noted for its seascapes, mountain views and water sports. The main village on the island is Knightstown which has a good selection of accommodation and pubs.
