Tullaghan, Co. Leitrim

Tullaghan, County Leitrim.

Tullaghan is the most northernly village in County Leitrim, It is in the parish of Kinlough and Glenade and is located in the Manorhamilton electoral area. Ireland. Due to extensive property development, fueled by tax breaks, it has now mushroomed in size. The village had a population of 520 in 2002 and had grown to 764 by 2006.

It has a high cross located on the roadside of the N15. Local folklore says that it was carried from the sea to its present site by men over 500 years ago.

St Patricks Well is located approximately 3 km west from the village on the coast road past St Patricks church.

In January 2012 a 15 ft whale was washed up on the coast of Tullaghan.

It is situated on the 3 km long coastline of County Leitrim, on the N15 road between Sligo, County Sligo and Bundoran, County Donegal . The River Drowes denotes the border between County Leitrim and County Donegal and the River Duff forms the border between County Leitrim and County Sligo.

This is the shortest coastline of any county in Ireland.

Tullaghan coast lies at the foot of Glenade at the northern end of County Leitrim. It also includes a small section of County Sligo. It extends east to the edge of Lough Melvin and Garrison lowlands, west to Bunduff strand and inland to the northern slopes of the Dartry Mountains and the Arroo and Mountain Outliers.

The population of Tullaghan once stood at 520 since 2002 by increating their population two 764 since 2006. The village poulation for 2011 had went down when migration and that total came has 675.
