Drumcondra has achieved a remarkable international reputation for a town it's size. Each year anglers from all over the world come to fish in her tranquil waters. The Drumconrath Tara Mines Angling Festival is held in the summer months, the loughs are so bountiful that one year, 1989, three men caught 500lb between them in a day. Even during less competitive times of the year, the lakes attract many anglers looking for peace and solitude to their wooded shores. Also, the town is not without it's attractions to the non-angler, with it's many forest trails and picnic areas, Dromcondra is ideal for those looking for a tranquil break.
