Navan, Co Meath

Navan is a burgeoning town on the banks of the River Boyne and is the administrative town of the county. The Blackwater river meets the river Boyne on the eastern side of the town at the ancient Poolbeg bridge. Many beautiful riverside walks are available. Navan is a great shopping venue with an open air market every Friday.

Navan is the county town of Meath. It provides a ideal starting point for many of the scenic walks throughout the county. The Boyne Way begins at the meeting of the Blackwater and the Boyne and heads east over a disused humpback canal bridge. The canal was built between 1759 and 1800, but was abandoned in 1923 when it proved financially unviable.
