Ballymote, Co Sligo

This is a popular angling center boasting some of the finest coarse angling in Ireland. The market town contains a fifteenth century castle built by Richard de Burgo. Within the castle, the book of Ballymote was compiled and it gives the key to the Ogham inscriptions, the ancient Irish system of linear writing which can be seen on many standing stones in the country.
