Cork is a major city on Ireland’s south coast and has always been an important seaport. Today, the River Lee flows through the city in two main channels, so that you find yourself constantly crossing bridges. Some of the main streets are built over channels where ships nuzzled their anchor chains a century ago. The best way to see what the city has to offer is to go by foot.
