Many see The Khayber as the best Indian restaurant in Belfast, but officially, The Khayber has been voted among the Belfast Telegraph’s Top Ten Restaurants (across all categories) and consistently get excellent reviews for restaurant critics and and the general public alike.
The restaurants are named for the historic mountain trade route between Central Asia and South Asia known as the Khyber Pass. With the alternate spelling of Khayber begin an international reference to how the word is pronounced in the local dialect of the region – which is also the birthplace of the restaurants’ founder Mr. Khan (well-known for opening one of Northern Ireland’s first and most popular Indian restaurants, The Mogul on Great Victoria Street in Belfast).
