The restaurant Mamma Mia defies the ‘location. location, location’ mantra that all businesses should adhere to. Situated on Grattan Street, near Holles Street Hospital, it will not attract too much walk up business, but the quallity of the food makes it worth a detour. The brainchild of builder Clint Hamilton, an Italophile with experience of renovating many of Dublin’s Italian restaurants, who decided to try running one himself. Hamilton has devolved much of the responsibilty for the food and menus onto his Sardinian chef Manuel, and like all good Italian cooks, his watchwords are simplicity and quality. Having relied on the lunchtime trade for the last year, the restaurant recently opened for evening meals. The meat is organic, the desserts are home-made, and the prices are keen.
