Hi , I am trying to trace my both parents birth certificate, I have got there date of birth but I have not got mother’s names. Any Idea how can I find out?
Official certified birth certificates and photocopies are issued by General Register Office Ireland – see http://www.groireland.ie for details. They do not have any online search facility or ordering service. You can download forms and fill in complete information and send to get the right certs. Without complete information, a manual search of the index books will have to be done in the GRO offices.
There are many good research agents with online ordering service available. Supply them with the info, pays your money and they will perform the searches for you and send you the results.

In the Republic of Ireland, official birth certificates are only issued by General Register Office Ireland (see http://www.groireland.ie for info). But they have no online ordering or searching service available.
For family trees, photocopies of birth certificates are what you need, giving parents names and place of birth. For passport applications, full certified copies are required (more expensive).
Depending on the uniqueness of his name (not Sean Murphy or similar), a manual search may be done quickly
