I live in California, how can I get a copy of my grandmother’s birth or baptism certificate. She was born in Ireland.
I was born in Ireland but now live in Canada. Is it possible for a relative living in Dublin to obtain a long form of my birth certificate for me?

Your relative will need to go to the Registrar of Births, Marriages, and Deaths. It is located on Lomabard Street near Pearse Station in Dublin.
Anyone can go in there and get somebody’s birth certificate. You need to know the hospital where you were born and your parents names (mothers maiden name) as well as date etc..
My father was born in Offaly and my mother was born in Limerick. I need their birth certificates to obtain an Irish passport. I live in Fulham London.Any idea how to obtain them? Many thanks, Kevin Feighery
Photocopies and certified birth Certificates are issued by General Register Office Ireland – see http://www.groireland.ie for details. There is no online search facility or ordering service.
For family trees, photocopies of birth certificates are what you need, giving parents names and place of birth. For passport applications, certified copies are required.
There are many good research agents with online ordering service available. See http://www.irishancestries.com for details
