Hi Noel

As far as I know it is gone. I know the area well and I havent heard of it in recent times. I think it was knocked down.

The hotel was knocked down some years ago and there are apartments called Salthill apartments on the site now. If you google Salthill apartments, you may be able to rent an apartment there on a short letting basis for your parents. The apartments are situated right beside the Salthill Monkstown Dart Station.

I drive past the bland and crowded apartments there regularly and never fail to wonder at the opulence of the vanished hotel, suggested by the magnificent main entrance and even side entrance, thankfully overlooked by the crude development of the site. The fine stonework and aesthetic treatment of both is in stark contrast to the brash yet boring monolith within the walls.I would love to have visited the hotel in its heyday but seeing some pictures would not be bad either…

Ps. there ARE some pictures of the old Hotel , in its glory, on myhometown.ie.
Looking south along the railway curve, it was a wonderful counterpoint to the impressive terrace on the opposite side of the road.
