Hi! I’m a fiddler from Montreal coming to Ireland in mid-September and would like information on pubs to check out for sessions. If anyone can give info on locations/times or sites to visit and also if the session is pretty welcoming or if it’s more “sit back and listen”, I’d much appreciate!
Hi Sarah.. not too sure about places in Dublin but if you could make your way down to Naas in Co Kildare there is a little pub called “the Mill”. It actually is an old mill, selling wine & food. There are some great sessions out there with both sit back n listen and join in. Have been known to get drunk and sing a tune myself. If you feel like deviating from Dublin give me a shout and i’ll give you directions. The place is great, and mainly on a Thurs & Sun night for trad music. They would love you to join in.
