Céide Fields lie beneath the wild boglands of North Mayo. These are the oldest known stone-walled fields and date back almost 6000 years. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way, this extensive neolithic monument contains field systems, dwelling areas and megalithic tombs. The wild flora is surrounded by some of the most spectacular cliffs and rock formations in Ireland.
There is a visitor centre with displays and exhibitions to interpret the fields.
As the fields are exposed to the wild Atlantic Ocean, visitors should dress appropriately for the weather and wear footwear suitable for walking over uneven terrain.
