Thing to Do Category: Theatres and Cinemas
The National Concert Hall is Ireland’s most prestigious music venue. Since its opening in 1981, the NCH has established itself as Ireland’s premier centre for the performance of live music and the arts and is recognised as an important venue on the international performing circuit.
The National Symphony Orchestra has its home in the National Concert Hall. It performs throughout the season, and is the orchestral mainstay of the NCH. The NCH also hosts regular performances by the RTE Concert Orchestra. An important platform is provided by the orchestra for the ever popular lunchtime and teatime concerts during the summer which attract capacity audiences. The school concerts are highlighted successfully with the Irish Times ‘Music in the Classroom’ series attracting over 30,000 school children annually.
