Post offices are open from 0830 to 1730 or 1800 Monday to Friday and from 0900 to 1200 on Saturday; smaller offices close for lunch and bigger ones stay open longer on Saturday. Dublin’s main post office with great historical significance is the GPO (General Post Office) located on O’Connell St. It is open 0800-2000 Mon-Sat, and 1000-1830 Sunday and holidays; it is the large neo-classical building with pillars on O’Connell St. You will be able to identify a post office because there is always a green sign outside that indicates it.

Public Telephones are located throughout the city and country.
The Republic of Ireland’s country code is 353. To make a reverse charge call to a number in Ireland dial 10. To make a reverse charge call to a number outside Ireland dial 114.
The Northern Ireland country code is 44. Dial 100 to reach the operator.
Internet & E-Mail
Internet and email access is readily available throughout Ireland. Internet cafés and access points are available throughout the city and country. Wireless hotspots are common throughout the country, available at most hotels/guesthouses/accommodation and at many pubs, cafes and restaurants.
Electricity
Voltage is 230V AC, at 50Hz. Wall socket and plug are type G and shown below. Don’t forget to check the ratings of your electrical items before bringing them with you to Ireland.

Most electrical items from continental Europe will work with a small, cheap adapter which can be purchased in most electrical and travel shops, and at most air and sea ports.
