It was here in the 19th century that coal from Wales was unloaded from schooners lying offshore.
The beach has been largely eroded by the advancing sea but there are still pleasant cliffside walks, the waters around Cahore are teaming with life, it is popular with anglers as well and wild life watchers who come to see the seals and porpoises who live in the waters.
